June 8, 1935 - Editorial - Scrambled Governments, by George Lorimer
In one of his recent radio talks to the nation, President Roosevelt called upon his fellow citizens to co-operate with him in making the great work-relief program the most efficient and cleanest example of public enterprise the world has ever seen. "It's time to provide a smashing answer," the President went on to say," for those cynical men who say that a democracy cannot be honest and efficient. If you will help me, this can be done." (pg. 22)
Comments: Even though his 1932 campaign speeches were filled with lies, FDR speaks of honesty here, and I'm sure many people were filled with supportive emotion when they listened to him. He had a very charming personality.
